Notre Dame spent approximately $1.76 million in academic year 2006-07 on recruiting expenditures, second only to Tennessee. I'd say that's money well spent. More...

I'd love to see a breakdown of expenses. $1.76 million seems a bit high, but I guess that's the price you pay to bring in a top class.

I believe that after reading so many comments centering on the money, an important part of this article has been overlooked. We always hear the rhetoric about diversity, but when it comes to athletics, ND has a truly diverse makeup. I have heard so much pontificating from professors and admissions personnel about achieving diversity but when it comes to athletics there is nothing but hypocracy. Well done ND!
